Wool / Wool – Cashmere Blends

Wool is a textile fiber that is obtained from sheep. The quality of wool is determined by its fiber diameter, crimp, yield, color, and staple strength. Fiber diameter is the single most important wool characteristic determining quality and price. Most of the world’s wool is obtained in Australia, New Zealand and the United States but is then woven in the mills of Italy and England. A wool and cashmere blend is the blending of wool obtained from sheep mixed with cashmere that is obtained from goats to create a warmer fabric to be used for slightly cooler climates. Cashmere originated from the Kashmir region in India. The cashmere and wool are blended and woven together from mills in Italy and England that produce the highest quality woven fabrics in the world.

Cotton

Cotton is a soft and fluffy staple fiber that grows around the seeds of the cotton plant native to South America, China and pre-historically the Indus Valley Region. It is the most widely used natural fiber used in cloth today. The fiber is most often spun into yarn or thread and used to make a soft, breathable textile. Most of the world’s cotton is produced and obtained from countries like Egypt, China, Japan, India and the United States. It is then exported to mills in Italy, Egypt and Japan to be spun into yarns. Cotton fabrics come in many forms such as Plain Cottons, Oxford Cottons, Poplin Cottons, Cotton Twills, Cotton Satin, Sea Island Cotton and Seersucker Cottons. High quality cotton is soft, comfortable, easy to launder and durable.

Here at Gulati, we stock only the highest quality cottons that have been exported from Egypt, Italy and the United States and woven in exclusive mills in Japan, Egypt and Italy. We also stock various range of cottons including Sea Island, Twill, Oxford, Plain and Seersucker cottons. Because high quality cotton generally tends to wrinkle a lot, all our fabrics are treated to get the least wrinkle and are also pre-shrunk to ensure no shrinkage occurs once the garment has been produced. The higher the yarn count the finer the fabric thus at Gulati we stock only the finest doubly ply 170’s – 200’s count, giving our shirts that soft, comfortable and silky finish. Linen

Linen is a textile made from the fibers of the flax plant. It is renown as an essential summer fabric due to its exceptional cool and fresh attributes in hot climates. Linen typically has a thick and thin character with a crisp and textured feel to it, but it can range from stiff and rough, to soft and smooth. When properly prepared, linen fabric has the ability to absorb and lose water rapidly. It can gain up to 20% moisture without feeling damp. Linen is a very durable, strong fabric, and one of the few fabrics that are stronger wet than dry. The fibers do not stretch and are resistant to damage from abrasion. However, because linen fibers have a very low elasticity, the fabric will eventually break if it is folded and ironed at the same place repeatedly. Linen wrinkles very easily, and so some more formal linen garments require ironing often, in order to maintain perfect smoothness. Nevertheless, the tendency to wrinkle is often considered part of the fabric's particular charm. Most of the world’s highest quality linen is found in countries such as Ireland, Italy, Egypt, England and the United States.
